Indigo Dying

On our way into Olympia this morning we walked past Changs. They do loads of fabulous indigo dyed stuff. I was admiring the skill which went into the panel above when the lady showed me her samples demonstrating the process which I would love to share with you. Firstly using a stencil mark out the design.

Next bind areas to create a resist for the dye.

Once you have finished creating the resists dip the piece in the indigo.

and hey presto you have your finished piece
